From a young age, I have been drawn to natural landscapes and theplants, animals and other creatures that depend upon them. Indeed, many people “escape” to natural areas for adventure, solitude, and personal rejuvenation. Photography serves my needs. While many persons may be struck by the beauty that they observe, it takes time and effort to truly see the details that surround us. I strive to capture the fleeting moments or the overlooked scenes that will delight the viewer or create a lasting
memory.
Although I have varied interests, my primary subjects are landscapes (at many scales), wildlife and wild plants. A latent interest in minimalist photography has recently emerged which often influences my compositions, particularly winter scenes. My field approach includes both detailed planning and flexibility. Specific locations and scenes may be selected subject to season, weather, lighting conditions, etc. but unanticipated scenes are also pursued as opportunities arise. The delightful surprises are often the most rewarding.
