Artist Statement - Margaret Blokhuis

Margaret was born in Ontario, Canada but on a visit in 1987 to the Bow Valley she decided to stay and make this her home. Always creative, she began painting in watercolours and has made that her main medium.

Her dedication to her art has included workshops with Donna Jo Massie, Doug Swinton, the Canmore Art Guild and many others. As a member of the Advanced Watercolour Seminar, she has participated in shows at Studio 604, the Canmore Art Guild Gallery and Arts Place - Art and Song. She is also an active member of a Plein Air hiking group which takes her out into the mountains in all seasons.

Margarets knowledge and love of the mountains is reflected in her artwork with its rich colours and keen observation into detail.
